Martens General Store
Title
Martens General Store
Description
Mr Martens now represents almost half a century of merchantile life in this city. In 1851 he began business here and during this long time his name has been honored as one of our most solid merchants and he has now reached a ripe age in which he can reflect on his past with a feeling of gratification. He deals in a general line of goods such as dry goods groceries clothing etc. His store which is brick 25 x 50 feet is one of the most complete in that part of the city. It enjoys a large trade and numbers among its patrons those who have traded here for years and years and have come to look upon this store with a feeling almost akin to home affections. His sons Henry and Emil assist him in the management of the business.
