County Asylum and Poor House

Title

County Asylum and Poor House

Description

As truthfully depicted by a wellknown writer, "The charities of life are scattered everywhere, enameling the vales of human beings, as the flowers pain the meadows," and Manitowoc County is no stranger to that gentle hand, which, like the sun, brightens every object upon which it shines.  Every community, great or small, prosperous or otherwise, has her full apportionment of God's unfortunates to care for and none can so truly tell of the great heart of that charity as the many who have felt its tender touch and seen its kindly hand, ministering faithfully to every want of bereaved mind and stricken body when rendered helpless by the blighted fall of rude adversity.  No cottage is too humble or hovel too degraded for it to enter, and no human being can sink too low in the depth of iniquity that the cries of misery and suffering will not reach the ears of white robed charity of Manitowoc County.  It is safe to say that the spirit of true benevolence is as fully developed, the grave importance of duties in the cause of humanity as thoroughly understood and appreciated and our methods and facilities for ameliorating the conditions of suffering on every hand as perfect here as in any part of the broad universe.  The asylum and county house is located near the city, and are among the grandest and most conveniently arranged institutions in the entire United States.  These buildings are provided with every facility and convenience.  The Insane asylum is illustrated in this issue.
